John Beiter and Hillel Frankel Talk Industry Trends at AmericanaFest

John Beiter & Hillel Frankel were featured speakers during multiple sessions at the Americana Music Association’s 2017 AmericanaFest held September 12-17, 2017 in Nashville.
John, who also serves outside General Counsel for the Americana Music Association, moderated the panel “Better Laws and a Better Future for Music” which discussed changes being considered in Washington that could dramatically alter the music business. Along with Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn; representatives of the Content Creators’ Coalition, an artist led non-profit organization that works with musicians to organize around difficult issues in the new digital spaces; and other artist representatives, the group discussed the latest developments and looked to what may be ahead for the industry.
John also moderated the “Sync Licensing” panel which explored the placement of music in film, TV, video games, and digital entertainment platforms including YouTube.
Hillel moderated the “Turning Data into Dollars; Monetizing the New Music Industry Commodity” panel, which dissected how the gathering of streaming and user data is affecting the music industry. John was a panelist in this program, which also included high-level music executives.
