Leavens Strand & Glover Receives the 2016 Lawyers for the Creative Arts Distinguished Service to the Arts Award
Entertainment law firm Leavens, Strand & Glover is pleased to announce that Lawyers for the Creative Arts presented the firm with its 2016 Distinguished Service to the Arts Award.
Each year, LCA presents this award to individuals and organizations who have had a profound impact on the development of arts and culture in Chicago. Prior recipients include the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Fred Anderson, the Joffrey Ballet, Roche Schulfer, Roger Ebert and Ramsey Lewis.
“We are honored and humbled to receive this recognition from Lawyers for the Creative Arts,” said Leavens Strand & Glover Partner Thomas Leavens. “Making a difference in Chicago’s creative community has fulfilled and inspired each of us since we first opened our doors, and LCA’s recognition of our firm validates our dedication to its mission.”
This award was formally presented to the firm at LCA’s Annual Benefit Lunch on October 27, 2016 in the historic Empire Room of the Palmer House Hilton.
At the event, LCA also presented the annual Thomas R. Leavens Award honoring individuals who have shown exemplary service to LCA. The inaugural award was given to Leavens in 1997, and since then firm partners Peter Strand and Jerry Glover have received the award. Linda Mensch, who joined the firm as of counsel in June, has also received this recognition.
“The Leavens Strand & Glover lawyers have a natural affinity to artists. They are themselves active artists. They understand the difficulties artists face, and they take pleasure in helping them succeed,” said LCA Executive Director Jan Feldman.
“The firm brings that same passion and insight to LCA. Tom Leavens was LCA’s first Executive Director, and his efforts in Chicago created an example for other cities starting similar organizations across the country. We at LCA receive so much from this firm. They volunteer their time representing LCA clients, lecturing at our educational seminars and serving on our boards. It’s been an amazing partnership, and one that’s had a significant and lasting impact on the wonderful arts community we all enjoy,” Feldman said.
This award follows on the heels of Glover and Mensch being named 2017 Best Lawyers® “Lawyers of the Year” in Entertainment Law in Chicago for Motion Pictures & Television and Music, respectively. In total, five firm attorneys in Chicago and Nashville were named to the 2017 Best Lawyers list.
