Prominent Media & Entertainment Lawyer Joe Voss Joins LSG’s Growing National Practice
January 2, 2017
Leavens, Strand & Glover is pleased to announce that Joe Voss, a highly regarded advisor to the media and entertainment industry, has joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Voss represents companies in the film, television, digital media and music industries on general corporate, production-related and financing matters in Illinois and Michigan, as well as nationally.
He has particular experience advising clients on artist-cause collaborations and assisting them in using media to further their nonprofit missions. He also advises independent producers on financing and other legal issues that arise in the production process and maintains an active general corporate practice. Voss joins the firm from Clark Hill PLC, where he led its entertainment industry practice.
“Joe has been a friend of the firm for many years, and we are delighted he is joining us to further bolster our national growth,” said Leavens, Strand & Glover Partner Tom Leavens. “His stellar reputation in the entertainment industry – combined with his corporate and financing experience – complements our existing offerings in ways that will be of great value to our clients and to our firm.”
Voss is affiliated with the firm’s Chicago office and practices primarily from West Michigan, where he also serves as Director of Strategic Partnerships for Creative Many Michigan, a statewide nonprofit organization committed to advancing the creative industries in Michigan. He is serving his second consecutive term on the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office Advisory Council, a position to which he was appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.
“I am thrilled to join Leavens, Strand & Glover and combine forces with some of the entertainment industry’s leading lawyers,” said Voss. “The firm is on a solid growth trajectory, and I am excited about collaborating with my new colleagues to further its expansion.”
Voss earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his B.A. from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
The addition of Voss is the latest development in the firm’s recent national growth. In 2015 the firm opened its second office in Nashville and in 2016 added John Beiter, one of Nashville’s leading music and intellectual property attorneys. Additionally, nationally celebrated entertainment lawyer Linda Mensch joined the firm’s Chicago office last year.
